Lessons & Classroom Games for Teachers

Tic-Tac Toe - Short Lesson
By:yi

Create a traditional tic-tac-toe table. You can create this table on the board where you conduct most of your teaching. You can also be creative by using materials like colored cloth to create a table. Create groups within the class so the students can work on teams while they attempt to win the game. Have questions regarding English conventions such as vocabulary and grammar on hand, but away from the students so they cannot peek at the questions. Ask the first group a question. If it answers correctly, then permit them to place either a X or an O in whatever space they choose on the table. If they answer incorrectly, then the question goes to the next group. If none of the students know the answer, then you must explain to them the correct answer. Continue asking questions in this format. The first group to get three X's or O's in a row is declared the winning group.
