Brazil is a wonderful country famed for its beautiful Latino ladies, magnificent rainforest and of course football. Similar in size to Europe the country unsurprisingly has a wealth of cultures and different scenery that would take years of one's life to fully get to grips with.

As a result a Brazil holiday is a magnificent reason to travel. Without a doubt the best way to travel Brazil would be by spending months on end traveling between villages and cities but sadly very few of us have the time available to spend travelling. Most of us are lucky if we can spare a couple of weeks a year to travel.

Fortunately an increasing number of British tourists are making the long trip to the South American country and have found that despite only having a short period in the country have been able to experience a great deal of what a Brazil holiday has to offer. So what can you see and do in Brazil with only two weeks to spare?

The capital Rio De Janeiro (River of January) and the rainforest should not be missed. Here is a lowdown on two of the most impressive places in Brazil. Together they demonstrate that there is a world of variety and opportunity in Brazil.

Rio de Janeiro

One of the most magnificent cities in the world Rio simply cannot be missed off the list of things to do while on a Brazil holiday. This metropolis is one of the most picturesque cities in the world. A trip up either of the famous landmarks such as Sugar Loaf Mountain or Christ the redeemer and you will be rewarded with incredible views of this rapidly modernising capital.

The Sugar Loaf mountain is a tall rocky outcrop that stands off the coast. Tourists can reach the summit by a frighteningly long cable car ride. From here you can look down at the city and see the marvelous Copocabana beach and the famous favela slums that snake between the hilly city.

The view makes clear the contrasts between the impressive modern buildings and the slums that appear to entangle the city like vine leaves. The two most striking landmarks are the Christ the redeemer and the impressive maracana stadium. Both monuments celebrate Brazil's two loves: God and football.

Manaus and the rainforest

A Brazil holiday would not be complete without a trip to the magnificent rainforest in the north of the country. The Brazilian rainforest is unbelievably huge and it is not until you fly into the rainforest city of Manaus that you can really begin to appreciate it.

A flight into the city will also enable you to appreciate the size and scope of the most famous river the Amazon. Manaus also has a world famous Opera house that was built with the riches that were accrued when the Rubber industry was alive and well. It is an extremely surprising site to behold an old fashioned opulent European opera house in the centre of the rainforest.

At Manaus you will be also be able to visit the spot where the brown waters of the Amazon river and the black waters of the river Negro meet. Despite meeting the two rivers do not mix and you can see a clear distinction between the two.

A trip on a boat up one of the Amazons many tributaries will bring you in touch with many of the indigenous tribes that have lived on the banks for thousands of years. Here you may be able to hunt for Cayman or even fish for piranha.
