Rio de Janeiro is a city located in southeastern Brazil. Many people also know Rio de Janeiro as the Marvelous City. The population of Rio de Janeiro is just over six million people making one of the most densely populated cities in all of South America. But with all of those people in one area Rio de Janeiro is one of the top tourist destinations in the world. Every year Rio de Janeiro sees tourists from all over the world. The main reason that Rio de Janeiro is so popular among tourists is because of the wide variety of activities that are available, as well as the attractions.

If you are going to be planning a trip to Rio de Janeiro you may want to do it during the biggest party of the year; the Carnival. Every year Rio de Janeiro has a carnival in which people show up to have nothing but a great time. It is accompanied by music, sales, and fun. And do not forget about all the people who go to the carnival every year. Just one day alone will bring in close to 200,000. All of this makes the carnival one of the most popular events in the world year in and year out.

A big part of life in Rio de Janeiro is sports. The most popular one being soccer, but this is not the only option in this city. Other popular sports include beach football and volleyball, as well as motor racing. In addition, rowing and sailing are very popular in the ocean. You should look into all of these sports if you are in Rio de Janeiro; either to take part, or to simply sit back and watch.

A trip to Rio de Janeiro would not be the same if you did not hit the beaches. There is plenty of space to be had, and all you need to do is show up. No matter if you are going to swim in the ocean or just sun bathe, heading to the beaches of Rio de Janeiro is a great time for anybody. Not to mention the fact that you can take part in several different water sports.

The weather in Rio de Janeiro is tropical all year round. During the winter months temperatures only fall into the 60s. And during the summer you should expect them to reach 100 degrees Fahrenheit at times. This makes it easy to travel to Rio de Janeiro no matter what time of the year it is.

The Antonio Carlos Jobim International Airport is used for all of the international flights that come into the area. In addition there are two other airports in the Rio de Janeiro area that can be used for smaller planes, and flights within the area.

A trip to Rio de Janeiro is one that you will remember for the rest of your life. The tourism in this city is rising every year thanks to all of the activities and attractions of the area. No matter if you visit Rio de Janeiro during the big carnival or just in the winter, you will have tons of fun. The weather is great, and the people are always friendly.
