Travel in Latin America

The Beauty and Diversity of Brazil

Brazil is a fascinating and beautiful place to live or to visit. It is the world's fifth largest country, in both size and population. It is South America's primary economic power, and covers almost half of the entire area of South America. More people live in Brazil than in the total of every other South American nation. Because it covers such a wide expanse of land, it features an incredible amount of diversity. You'll find everything from bustling large cities to the great unspoiled expanse of rain forests in Brazil. If you are planning to travel to Brazil, either for a visit or to live there, there are a few things you simply will not want to miss.

Spectacular Scenery
Brazil has some of the most beautiful scenery you'll ever experience. Much of northern Brazil is covered with tropical rain forests. In fact, Brazil has the largest rain forest in the world. The beauty of the rain forest is absolutely spectacular, with the Amazon and other large rivers flowing through it. If you have the chance to visit Brazil, the vast tropical jungles of towering trees is one sight you just cannot miss. North of the forests and bordering the Atlantic Ocean along the southeast you'll find beautiful mountains. Brazil also features some absolutely beautiful beaches along the coast. In the northeast region of the country there are dry plains, while there are rich farmlands in southern and central Brazil. Many people who visit Brazil are surprised that there is such a wide diversity of landscape and scenery to enjoy. Sometimes it's hard to imagine that you are in the same country when you visit two different places.

Natural Sites to Visit
If you're looking to experience some of Brazil's natural beauty, the Iguassu Falls should be on the "must see" list. Although they are not the world's largest waterfalls, they are absolutely beautiful. These falls are on the Panama River, and essentially form a natural border between Brazil, Paraguay, and Argentina. Between October and December is generally the best time to visit the falls.

If you enjoy bird watching be sure to visit the Pantanal wildlife reserve. It's also a great place for fishing and just enjoying the beauty of nature. This wildlife reserve is very natural and pristine, adding to its appeal. The Amazonia Natural Park actually covers almost 40% of Brazil. There are many different things to do and see in the rain forest, so if you visit, be sure to plan enough time so that you can fully absorb its splendor. It's a great place for bird watching, since many of the animal and bird varieties that live in the rain forest are not find anywhere else. If you want to travel straight into the heart of the rainforest, there are boat trips that you can take. You'll also find ample opportunities for climbing and hiking. Brazil has a large expanse of coastline, so you'll find plenty of beaches to enjoy. If you prefer beautiful and quiet beaches, check out Jericoacoara. Or, check out the urban beaches such as Copacabana if you're looking for a bit of excitement.
