Travel in Latin America

My trip to Ecuador (Part 2)
By:Robin Tim Day BSc MSc BEd <cowboy4444@hotmail.com>

The native skeleton (first picture), in excellect condition, with perfect teeth, was found in the back yard of a family in Manglaralto, coastal Ecuador.

The body had a pottery jar with clay stamps for body ornament. A gold nose ring was found in years gone by.

I believe the owner of the property is a Mr. Utman and he is just a few houses south of main square. He is looking for help to document this properly and maybe make a small museum.

The back yard probably holds many more artifacts.

If you follow the river behind this village (by truck 35 cents) you come to the wild areas past Dos Mangas good for hiking along the river or you can rent a horse or mule. This village is a crafts center as well.

Here is a photo (second one) of the hairless dogs from coastal Peru, Mancora a surf town. They are seen sometimes in Ecuador (Montanita), and Mexico.

It is a genetic condition and may benefit the dogs by keeping flea problems to a minimum.

This type of dog was raised for food by the native people at the time of conquest. Their relatively hairless condition parallels the breeding of relatively hairless pigs in China and Europe.
