How to Add an Infant to an American Airlines Ticket
By:Vanessa Padgalskas

Traveling Internationally with an Infant on American Airlines

Contact the reservations office to book an infant transatlantic/transpacific flight or flight to and from Latin America. You cannot book an infant flight online, unless you want the infant to have her own seat. You can still book the adult flight online, but must call American Airlines to add the infant on the reservation. If calling from the United States and are an English speaker, the phone number is (800) 433-7300.

Give the American Airlines representative your flight reservation number for your adult ticket. The representative will add the infant to your reservation. The infant's ticket will be issued immediately and be delivered to you by email or on the American Airlines website under your account. You need to create an account to view your reservation on the website.

Pay 10% of the adult fare for the international part of the flight for an infant ticket. This fee does not entitle the infant to his own seat.

Provide a passport for the infant when flying internationally.
