Here's an introduction to some of your very first French love phrases, time tested and the best use of French, the language of love "par excellence".

So, you're with your favourite person, the mood is right, where do you start?

If you've just met the most beautiful girl in the world, start slowly, you'll get her attention with a simple greeting, followed by "vous êtes très jolie", which means "you are very beautiful" (think of Angelina Jolie!). You are sure to arouse interest and follow up with some conversation. Men are much easier to approach ladies, no Frenchman will resist; "bonjour, mon nom est _, comment allez- vous?", (Hello, my name is _, how are you?). Why would such a simple entrance work you ask? It's because there is nothing sexier than a foreign accent in a woman, just use it!

Let's move along further, once you've known someone for a while and you want to express a bit more interest, you can say "je vous aime beaucoup" or less formally "je t'aime beaucoup", which means basically "I like you a lot".

Finally, for the "pièce de résistance", when the time is exactly right, when you've hopelessly fallen in love, there is nothing more sensual than hearing "Je t'aime" (I love you) gently whispered in one's ear.

A word of caution; for you amateurs of the movie "Le Moulin Rouge", the French love phrase "voulez-vous coucher avec moi?" (Do you want to sleep with me?) will not get the reaction you expect from any girl. Keep that one for after the deed! For you ladies, the use of that phrase may attract a lot more attention than you bargained for, use at your own risks!

Don't be afraid to try, the fact that you have an English accent will work to your advantage. A foreign accent adds a sense of the exotic to a person, so go for it. It's also important to project an air of confidence, no matter what is your language.
