I have discovered one very good way to learn German. One of the biggest mistakes a beginner makes is to try to learn everything at once. You simply cannot become fluent speaker over night! Accept that!

Pareto principle says that 20 percent of the input contribute to 80 percent of the output. I was wondering if the same thing was with German. And the discovery was shocking.

If you can focus on those 20 percent you can learn German rapidly. And this article is going to explore the most important aspects to consider when learning German:

- Consistency. It's better to practice 1 word a day than 10 words every 10 days. Do you get the point? Be consistent.

- Focus on the right things. For beginners, that is more reading, speaking and listening and less writing. There are software programs that provide you this.

- Reading is essential. You need to learn to walk before you can run. Learning a small number of words and getting in the habit of practicing them is better than learning 100 words in 10 days and not using them once! I tell you this from personal experience.

- Listening is also very important part of learning the language. You need to listen to beginner tapes, and not newspapers and TV. That is how you slowly immerse into the big language.

- Writing is very useful thing for beginners. Writing short words, and short sentences for beginners is crucial.

- Pronunciation is also essential. Beginners need to learn how to pronounce the vowels in the German language.
