Vital Spanish Words and Phrases You Must Know Before Traveling to Any Spanish Country

South and Central America have some of the most captivating geographic areas of the word. When traveling in Latin America, it is helpful to know at least a little bit of the language. You will find that most people will respond to you better if you at least attempt to speak their language. In addition to the words and phrases offered here, don't forget that you can also rely on facial expressions. Say the letter "s" out loud when using them.

However, your language will still sound a bit stiff unless you take the time to listen to the words. You can easily find programs on the Internet that will helpfully provide you with audio clips of the correct pronunciation.

1. Hola, como estas? Hello, how are you? This is a good start for a conversation with anyone who speaks Spanish.

2. Bien, gracias. Fine, thank you. Also, gracias is a jesting that you will use over and over.

3. Comida. This means food.

4. Gaseosa. Soda.

5. Cerveza. Beer.

6. Por favor. Please. Use it at the end of a sentence "Mas coffee, por favor."

7. Mas despacio, por favor. Please speak more slowly. Spanish may seen a rapid language and this phrase is very useful when the person who is speaking to you is going a little bit too fast.

8. De donde eres? This means "Where are you from?"

10. Restaurante. Restaurant These are very similar from one language to the other.

12. El bano. Bathroom

13. Cuanto cuesta? How much does it cost?

14. Como te llamas? What is your name? Usually you will get just the first name.

15. My Nombre es _________. My name is.

16. Mucho gusto. Nice to meet you.

17. Bueno? Good. This word usually means "good," but in this case, it is how many people answer their phone calls.

18. Te Amo. I love you. It is used as a term of kind word for those who are in love.
