How to Learn Spanish Vocabulary Words Quickly
By:Stephanie Kinch

The best way to learn any language is through practice, memorization and repetition. Traditional flash cards can work, but the most natural way to learn new Spanish words is to see them many times a day and incorporate them into everyday life.

Look up the words for common household items in an English-Spanish dictionary or with an online translator. Some words for beginners to Spanish may be "table," "chair," "TV," and "cabinet," while more advanced learners could look up words like "boiler," "wallpaper," and "faucet."

Label index cards with the Spanish words you looked up. Make writing large enough to see from across the room.

Tape index cards to their corresponding household item. This way, every time you use the item you will see the Spanish word and associate it with the image.

Say the words out loud every time you use the item. This will further help commit the word to memory.

Throw the cards away after you have memorized them and add new cards for words you don't know.

Watch Spanish television, make friends with a native speaker, and read Spanish newspapers online to learn other vocabulary words. Just hearing Spanish every day can help boost vocabulary and pave the way to fluency. Make new cards with unfamiliar words on them and post them where you'll see them frequently.

If you don't like having too many index cards taped around your house, limit yourself to 10. Once those words are firmly in your mind, label different items.
