Basic Spanish Words - The Magic of Basic Spanish Words Used Effectively
By:Penny Howe

Basic Spanish words and Spanish verbs are two of the most important components when learning to speak Spanish. Basic words consist of those words that are used by Spanish speakers every day. Combine this fundamental vocabulary with some essential verbs and you have a goldmine of speaking opportunities.

In fact, did you know that if you can take basic Spanish words and combine them in certain patterns with specific verbs, you have the speaking power of over 80,000 potential sentences!

Now, that is the way I would have liked to learn Spanish, how about you?

Sounds unreal doesn't it! But just look at the facts.

In our world:

1. There are only three primary colors that make up the millions of colors that can be seen by the human eye.
2. Only 12 notes make all the beautiful music that our ears can hear.
3. It takes just 26 letters to produce the abundant English resources that are available for us to consume.

Look... the above small amounts of the basics use special combinations to offer us a wealth of beauty and information. So, why can't it work the same for learning Spanish?

It is possible to take 138 Spanish words and make over 80,000 sentences?

You can use these core words, combine them properly and create your own language. From the very beginning, instead of regurgitating ready made phrases and conversations, you can be communicating with real sentences and think for yourself. These basic Spanish words make it possible to speak not only in the present tense, but also in the future tense; to speak not only using the singular person, but also plural persons.

Let's see how this works. Let's take just five basic Spanish words.

a) Verb 'Quiero' (KEY AIR OH) -- I want
b) Verb 'Comer '(COM AIR) -- to eat
c) Basic word 'Tacos '(TAH COS) -- tacos
d) Basic word 'Con usted' (CON OO STED) -- with you
e) Basic word 'No' (NO) -- no

How many useable real Spanish sentences can you make?

1.Quiero comer. -- I want to eat.
2. Quiero comer tacos. -- I want to eat tacos.
3. Quiero comer con usted.-- I want to eat with you.
4. Quiero comer tacos con usted.-- I want to eat tacos with you.
5. Quiero tacos. -- I want tacos.
6. No quiero comer.-- I do not want to eat
7. No quiero comer tacos. -- I do not want to eat tacos.
8. No quiero comer con usted. --I do not want to eat with you.
9. No quiero comer tacos con usted. -- I do not want to eat tacos with you.
10. No quiero tacos. -- I do not want tacos.

Well, there...you made ten sentences without too much effort.

Now what would happen if you added one more basic word like 'ahora'-'now' and another basic verb like 'ir'-'to go'? How many more sentences could you add to your Spanish repertoire with just those two extra words?

See how it can multiply!

You can become an active participant in learning this foreign language. Throw out all those boring lessons, forget those frightening exams, and get rid of horrid grammar. The magic of basic Spanish words used effectively is in mastering the steps of combining 138 basic Spanish words in the correct patterns.
