U.S. Embassy ESL/EFL Teaching Projects - Worldwide

The English Language Fellow Program promotes English language learning around the world and fosters mutual understanding between the people of the United States and people of other countries. The Program places highly qualified teachers in paid professional positions at projects initiated by U.S. embassies in all regions of the world. It is an opportunity for ESL teachers to enhance their professional career as they contribute to cross-cultural awareness throughout the world. Assignments are for a 10-month period typically beginning in September 2016.

The English Language Fellow Program is funded by the U.S. Department of State, Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs. As a program administrator, Georgetown University's Center for International Education and Development is recruiting applicants for approximately 100 positions for the 2016-2017 academic year.

Minimum requirements:
• U.S. Citizenship
• Graduate level degree in TESOL, applied linguistics, or a field related to English language teaching
• Two years’ classroom TESOL (ESL and/or EFL) teaching experience
• Applicants with a graduate level degree in an unrelated field are eligible to apply if they also have a recognized TESOL certification and 120 contact hours, including supervised practicum, or a valid, full state teacher certificate, credential, or licensure with a specialization or an endorsement in ESL or the equivalent.

Preferred Skills and Experience:
In addition to satisfying program eligibility requirements, competitive applicants should demonstrate the following experience and qualities for project consideration:
• experience with classroom management, instructional technology, syllabus evaluation/design/development, materials and/or resources development
• personal qualities of flexibility, cultural adaptability, resourcefulness, desire and ability to live and work abroad, motivation to be a Fellow

Program benefits:
• Stipend: $30,000
