KIPP New Jersey is looking for an ESL teacher who will support our three growing schools in Camden by leading small-group and individual intervention classes, as well as pushing into the general education classrooms for additional in-class support for English Language Learners. The ESL teacher will also provide professional development to classroom teachers to help them develop and implement strategies for ELLs.

Duties and Responsibilities

Here are some of them:
Lead small group and individual instruction for English Language Learners
Assess the needs of students and design programs to meet needs accordingly
Collaborate with classroom teachers to support students through a variety of strategies, including occasional co-teaching and pushing into classrooms
Design and lead professional development for classroom teachers in using ELL strategies
Administer NYSESLAT and LAB-R assessments, and use the results to inform curriculum development and classroom instruction
Ensure compliance with city and state ELL mandates
Facilitate parent meetings on services and strategies to support their children’s learning
Be a good teammate – work closely with other school staff to reinforce expectations for all students

Qualifications:
A minimum undergraduate GPA of 2.75
At least 2 years of classroom experience (pull out and small group) working with new arrivals and English Language Learners grades K-8
NJ State teaching certification
NJ State ESL certification (or progress toward ESL certification)
Experience coordinating ESL/bilingual programs
Demonstrated success in raising the achievement levels of traditionally under-served students
The ability to be flexible in a high-performing school environment
Attention to details and strong organization skills
A desire to have fun everyday
Zest, grit, hope, love, social intelligence, gratitude, and a sense of humor
