I believe you can find a job without experience. I think the most important thing that employers are looking for is how you present yourself to them. We recently sent a TESL graduate to China without prior experience because he was filled with enthusiam and was really interested in teaching.

Best of luck on your search for a job!

i disagree with the previous respondent. lying is a critically important part of the job-seeking process and particularly with regards to the landing of the first job. if you don't lie you're putting yourself at a severe disadvantage with respect to the competition. success at lying involves the ability if not to totally convince, then at the very least to educe respect from one's target in making unavoidable a concession for the plausibility of the fabrication, and this in itself requires more than a modicum of linguistic talent, which - after all - is one of the fundamental skills governing selection of successful applicants to such positions...

I am also new to teaching and in my 50's. This will be my third year. Just keep applying they need teachers all over the world. I am in Poland which is a good place to begin. Not many people consider Poland. I just finished my first summer school in England which is another thing to consider during July and August. Keep trying you will find a job.

Lying is a bad idea. Just be confident that you can do the job!

If at all possible, contact your prospective employer be phone. Let them at least hear what you sound like, after all listening is a major part of language learning.

If your phone skills are good, then it gives greater confidence to your employer about inviting a "stranger" to work for them.

Good luck!

I want to teach English in Madrid. I just got my TEFL certificate from ITC in Barcelona. But is it possible to teach anywhere in the world without years of experience!!?? I don't even have a BA. Is lying necessary to make a place for yourself in the world of TEFL??
