At Wingate we have children from ages 3 to 18. Over the years we have tried to produce a British School comparable to good schools in the UK. The vast majority of children are admitted because they have English as a first language. Unusually, even for British schools in Spain, the majority of our children speak and communicate naturally in English.

We follow the British National Curriculum and children sit their SATs at ages 7, 11 and 14 years. Parents are informed how their child is progressing and of how the school as a whole is doing compared to UK norms. In addition to the National Curriculum, Spanish is taught from Year 2. The work is carefully differentiated to cope with different levels of ability. Children in Years 10 and 11 follow the International General Certificate of Secondary Education (I.G.C.S.E.) syllabuses either from London Examinations or the University of Cambridge.

The academic qualifications achieved here are valid for all English speaking countries, the European Union countries including Spain and many other parts of the world. Good results in the GCE AS (Advanced Supplementary) and A Level (Advanced) exams taken at 17 and 18 open the doors to Universities throughout the world including Britain, Spain and the USA. Wingate is a centre for Cambridge International Examinations (CIE) and London International Examinations (Edexcel)

Wingate school comprises of three distinct parts; the Infant Department, the Junior Department and the Senior school, each with its own head. All staff are British trained, fully qualified and experienced, except for the Spanish teachers, who are all graduates of Spanish Universities, with the appropriate teaching qualifications. Many of the members of staff have been teaching at the school for ten years or more.
