English schools in Europe

Poland - Wroclaw
School:Wroclaw International School

"Today's Learners, Tomorrow's Leaders"

Wroclaw International School (WIS)
is an IB World School.

The school was established as the first international school in South - Western Poland in 2002 and is currently an exciting learning community which serves the needs of expatriates in the Lower Silesia region. The school programme extends from pre-school (3 years olds) to grade 10 (15 years olds). WIS is a certified IB World School and only one of two schools in Poland offering both International Baccalaurete programmes: IB Primary Years Programme and IB Middle Years Programme. WIS sister school - International High School of Wroclaw - is located at the same campus and offers also IB Diploma Programme, which allows the WIS alumni to continue their education at the same place.

The language of instruction at Wroclaw International School is English. French and Polish are the foreign languages taught. As in most international schools, many students at WIS do not speak English as their first language and require support to foster their acquisition of English. All teachers recognize this factor and address the differing needs of our diverse student population. Throughout the school year, students receive ESL instruction and support in the mainstream curriculum based on their individual needs. WIS also provides a comprehensive and dynamic ESL programme, allowing children to succeed. This programme is provided and supported by all teachers. This is delivered both within the regular classroom as well as in pull-out sessions.

With an enrollment of about 100 students, WIS greatly values and strives to maintain its caring ethos, and small class sizes ensure that students' individual learning needs are met. WIS supports the holistic development of its students, so that they can realize their full potential. WIS purpose-built facility is located near the center of the city. A second campus is located in a newly renovated building in the southern part of the city. The teaching faculty at WIS is experienced, certified and highly qualified. The majority of the faculty members are native speakers of English, coming from Canada, Great Britain, Australia, New Zealand, Ireland and the United States. Additionally there are teachers from Poland and France, as well as Korean and Japanese liaisons who support the two biggest communities at the school. WIS is a member of European Council of International Schools (ECIS) and Council of International Schools (CIS).
