The AIS is located in the 19th district of Vienna (Neustift-am-Walde), adjacent to the famous Vienna Woods, and provides an instructional setting in the midst of the physical beauty of the surrounding hills, forest, and countryside. On our 10-acre (4 hectare) premises there are seven interconnected buildings housing the elementary school, middle school, high school, “villa” (fine arts, foreign language, and ESL), cafeteria, science wing, and two gymnasiums.

AIS Vienna, representing over 60 countries, is an international school with an American style of education. Every student is multicultural, shifting from context to context, carrying a part of many communities within him/her. Our diversified academic program offers our students the opportunity to grow in self-confidence and experience the self-respect that hard work and high expectations bring. We want to be alert to the times. In the third millennium, our students are bombarded with information from electronic screens and the ability to discern genuine thinking from empty slogans becomes crucial.

We believe in measuring our value as human beings by our humanity towards others. Goodness, generosity, tolerance, and honesty cannot be forced or ordered. They can only function by example. AIS Vienna aspires to be such an example.

The American International School Vienna is a not-for-profit association made up of the parents of each student at the school. The school operates under the sponsorship of the U.S. Ambassador to Austria.
