Top 5 Things to Do in Barcelona, Spain
By:Susan Herrero

Barcelona is undoubtedly one of the most glorious and unique cities on the planet. A bustling cosmopolitan city there is so much to do and see that it is almost impossible to limit it to a top 5. Nonetheless, below is a list of some of the most popular attractions and things to do in the wonderful city of Barcelona.

In fifth place, the Barcelona FC Museum is a popular choice with many. Although perhaps not for everybody, any football fan out there would enjoy this museum enormously. There are countless trophies, photos, statues and other memorabilia to be found and, depending on what ticket you purchase, you can even take al look behind the scenes at the stadium seeing the changing rooms, VIP lounges and more.

Moving from football onto art now, as fourth place goes to the Picasso Museum where a huge collection of the great painter's work can be found. The gallery displays his paintings in chronological order and has very early paintings right through to his final pieces. This allows the viewer to see the great changes in style and techniques that the painter went through during his career, offering a good perspective and insight into his life.

In third place is the Poble Espanyol de Montjuic, otherwise known as the Spanish Village. The village is made up of different quarters that replicate the style and architecture of houses that are spread all over Spain. There are plenty of craft shops and workshops within the village where local items traditionally made can be bought. There is also a famous flamenco show held here which is extremely popular with locals and tourists alike.

The runner up in this list is the L' Aquarium de Barcelona. Situated at the Barcelona Port area, the aquarium is home to a wide variety of underwater species. Great fun for all the family, it is of no surprise that this has made it on to the Barcelona top ten! For an even greater experience head next door to the IMAX cinema to see the 3D film "Killer Sharks" before venturing into the aquarium to see the real thing.

The most popular tourist attraction of all however which receives a huge 2,056,448 visits a year is the Sagrada Familia by Antonio Gaudi. This is a giant Temple that was designed by the architect Antonio Gaudi. The interesting thing about this Temple however is that it has been under construction since 1882, and what's more, there is still between 30 and 80 years of construction left before it will be considered finished. Not everyone loves this Temple however, but it is the most popular attraction that exists in Barcelona today.
