Ten Essential Things to Do When You Visit Mauritius, Asia
By:Jonathan Williams

Mauritius is a quiet and tropical nation found in Western India. It is also nearby Madagascar, at the eastern part of it, so you can be sure of a trip loaded with natural and environmental pleasures. This makes Mauritius the perfect getaway for environmentalists as you will see nature at its rawest form here in Mauritius.

1.) Port Louis

Port Louis is perhaps the most industrialized place in the country. It is found in the Island of Mauritius, one of the four major islands that compose Mauritius. In Port Louis, you get to do a lot of things such as buying local goods and acquainting yourself with the local Mauritius culture.

2.) Hindu Temple

The Hindu Temple in Mauritius is esteemed not only for its architectural grandeur but also for the colors with which it is painted. Vivid colors of yellow and red adorn the temple but not compromising the holiness of the place. The very place where the Hindu Temple is located is also to be noted - truly a site to behold.

3.) Waterfalls in Mauritius

You can be sure that the waterfalls in Mauritius are untouched by pollution and human dirt. What's good about the many waterfalls in the country is that they're well protected. This enables you a chance to swim with some of the ocean's finest and harmless creatures.

4.) Moonscaped valleys and mountains

Mauritius will not be Mauritius without the lush valleys and mountains that define the land. Mauritius is actually full of these land forms which are shaped in such ideal and perfectly curved form. Make sure that you get to take a time off and relax in one of the stunningly elegant valleys and mountains of Mauritius.

5.) Champ de Mars

Champ de Mars used to be a place relatively unknown to a tourist visiting Mauritius. Now, however, it has been transformed into a racecourse. The unique identity of Champ de Mars is truly noticeable as most tourist destinations in Mauritius are nature-themed, and Champ de Mars also brings a refreshingly new quality to Mauritius.

6.) Mahebourg

If you want to go fishing in Mauritius, you can well go to any nearby port. If you want to have the best fishing experience, however, the only place for you is Mahebourg. In here are beautifully made ports that are good places for fishing, and also in Mahebourg is the Grand Port where fishing centers can be found.

7.) Naval Museum

Truly an original, the Naval Museum will give you that one-of-a-kind experience. The edge of Naval Museum over the other conventional museums is that it gives you that interactivity. Here, you can practically feel as if you are a part of the museum.

8.) Pamplemousses Garden

This garden is exceptional. Only in here can you find some of the rarest and most exotic plant species. Most of them can only be found in Mauritius, and if you keep a garden or want to just look around and marvel at the beauty of Mauritius's plant life, go to Pamplemousses Garden.

9.) Natural reserves and wildlife parks

A huge portion of Mauritius's land area is dedicated to the preservation of its wildlife species. It is where you can get to see and interact with rare and beautiful animals. Aviaries are also found in Mauritius, and the abundance of birds in the country can be witnessed by you in these aviaries.

10.) Popular beaches

Of course, a trip to Mauritius cannot possibly be complete without a visit to the local beaches around the area. You will find the beaches here to be clean and sanitary, and you can actually swim here, not like other beaches whose purpose is not attained. In Mauritius, bathing and swimming is absolutely safe and fun.
