Beautiful Paris (France)
By:Sumit Sharma

Mention of the beautiful places of Europe is incomplete without a mention of Paris, France. A tourist to the wonderful ‘City of Light’ as it is fondly called has unlimited attractions to view. Paris has millions of tourists every year who are taken in by its exquisite beauty. The cuisine is exceptional. Magnificent Paris has a major advantage when compared to other capital cities – its major attractions and landmarks are within walking distance of one another.

Wandering through the multitude of wonderful attractions in Paris is an experience by itself. A city with over a thousand years of history and a rich cultural heritage, the beauty of its architecture and its artistic development is a delight for one and all.

Paris has innumerable tourist attractions to offer to the visitor. One of the city’s most popular tourist attractions is the Pompidou Centre. This is a must visit place for the art lover. Works by Picasso, Matisse, Miro and Pollock are displayed here. Moreover it also has a name for displaying and promoting modern as well as contemporary art. The attractions are open for viewing from Wednesday to Monday between 11:00 to 22:00 hours.

The boulevard Champs-Elysees, the hub of high culture represents the style of Paris. Extending from the Arc de Triomphe, the area is lined with chic restaurants, shops and exclusive boutiques.

Amongst the new attractions is the neighborhood in and around the ruins of the Bastille prison which has been transformed into a hub of Parisian nightlife. Here, one finds a range of popular café joints, restaurants, and clubs apart from the Opera Bastille.

One of the most outstanding achievements which can be said to be a representation of French civic pride is the breathtaking Eiffel Tower. A visitor to the tower will be surprised that most spectacular views can be seen from all floors of the tower which stands at 320 metres high. People generally walk part of the way up and complete the journey by lift. An estimated six million people a year pay a visit to this towering edifice.

The endless shopping opportunities make Paris a haven for the tourists. Shopping for perfumes, cheese, wine, elegantly fine jewellery and antiques in this magnificent city is worth every penny. Moreover, Paris is home to, perhaps, the most number of cinemas than any other European city as film is the most popular art form in Paris.
