Curriculum Vitae

Keith Milford.

STRICTLY CONFIDENTIAL.

KEITH MILFORD Personal Statement

I have over 40 years of continuous teaching experience at the primary, high and adult level. I have taught in institutions in the Cape, Namibia, Botswana, Mauritius and the Peoples Republic of China.

During these years, I have been a Headmaster for 6 years at internationally recognized private schools. I have 12 years of High School teaching and 13 years of Primary school, of which 6 years have been as a senior teacher, 5 as a computer advisor / teacher and 5 as a lecturer.

The subjects I have taught at primary level include Physical Education, History, Geography, Health, Afrikaans, Computer Studies / Literacy, Science and Mathematics.

Subjects taught at senior level include Physical Education, Geography, History, Technology and Design, English, Economic Management Sciences, Computer literacy and at IGCSE level: Business Studies, Information Technology and Geography.

In the course of my duties I have been responsible for: establishing curriculum as well as its implementation, budgeting, staff seminars, training, continuous evaluation of school, teachers and pupils, developing a workable and enriched extra-curricular program, dealing with the media, parents and the Governing Body. As pupils were enrolled from all corners of the globe a very carefully balanced curriculum had to be devised to accommodate everyone.

My emphasis has and always will be on helping children acquire the necessary skills and concepts so that as international students they can carry with them a basic set of tools that can be used comfortably at any time. I am a strong believer in co-operative learning among students as this has proved to be very successful in international schools where the abilities of students vary. I believe that for a school curriculum to be effective it should be user-friendly, dynamic and a continually evolving tool.

I have coached the following: Tennis, Squash, Rugby, Soccer, Cricket, Swimming, Karate, Athletics, Volleyball, Hockey, and Canoeing as well as running Self Defense courses and Drum majorettes.

As a senior teacher and teacher, I have lead by example and have taught in both self-contained as well as team-teaching situations. I am a strong believer in the hands-on approach to focus the student’s energy and enthusiasm towards experiencing success in learning. I make use largely of local examples and local materials to focus on skills and their application.

I have introduced the use of computers at all the schools where I have taught, setting up networks, evolving the appropriate curricula, writing administration packages and running numerous staff enrichment courses. Due to my enthusiasm in this field, I was elected as the computer advisor/consultant to the private schools organization within Botswana.

I see my strengths as being very organized, yet flexible and I enjoy undertaking new challenges and responsibilities. I am a “people person” and have always advocated the “open door” policy. As can be seen concerning extra-murals I find no challenge too great and have made successes of that which I have been given.

Should you wish any further proof of my abilities, I will willingly e-mail supportive testimonials.
