I have got a Master of Arts degree in English Studies, which covers the required 120 hour TEFL module and makes me a qualified teacher of English as a foreign or second language. Additionally, I completed a post-graduate course for TEFL teachers and received a specialisation in testing and assessment. To further upskill my qualifications I attended a certified course for teacher trainers at the University of Sussex in Kent, England.

During my 26 year-long career I have taught English to different age groups, including young learners, teenagers and adults. Also, I taught courses at different levels, from elementary to Cambridge FCE, Cambridge Advanced and IELTS. Additionaly while teaching English to Secondary School students in Poland I prepared them for GCSE exams.

As a teacher I have been responsible for preparing classes by following a course syllabus and supplementing with materials of my own choice, testing students in formative and summative ways, marking and providing appropriate feedback on oral and written work, attending periodical staff meetings, as well as participating in school cultural and social events and keeping the students’ records and attendance.

As part of the Continuous Professional Development scheme I have attended workshops and conferences and I designed and ran my own workshops as part of in-house training for other fellow teachers. The subjects of the workshops covered teaching various aspects of English pronunciation, working with mixed ability groups, using field trips and projects in EFL instruction.

From 2000 to 2006 I was employed as a teacher trainer in a Teacher Training College in Lublin, Poland. I held classes and lectures in ELT methodology, including teaching grammar and vocabulary, the 4 language skills, language acquisition, testing and assessment, classroom management, materials and syllabus design and teaching young learners.

Additionally, I taught a practical RP pronunciation class, and conducted academic research in pronunciation teaching pedagogy. I participated in several workshops and international conferences on the subject of pronunciation pedagogy and published several papers on the topic.

Since 2006 I have been teaching English in Dublin, Ireland to students from different cultural and educational backgrounds from all over the world, including South Americans, Europeans and Asians. That has made me more aware of different cultural and personal needs such students may demonstrate in terms of their learning styles and classroom expectations.

Considering my professional background and experience as well as the qualities I possess such as high motivation, creativity, adaptability and ability to create effective and successful student-centered learning environment I believe I will make a valuable asset for your school.
