It is with great interest that I am forwarding my curriculum vitae for consideration as teacher of Mathematics and Economics. Given my education (Bachelor of Education Arts-Mathematics/Economics from Egerton University-second class Honours ), I am an excellent fit for your staff. In addition, I have 5-plus years of teaching experience, combined with a strong work ethic, interpersonal skills and a commitment to contribute to a very positive school environment.
Teaching is a lifelong learning process – it involves new philosophies and strategies, learning from the parents, community and colleagues, and learning from students. Encouraging students to become active participants in the learning experience requires incorporating hands-on and intellectually appropriate practices to provide challenges and stimulation that students need for a healthy learning environment.
Currently I am teaching Mathematics and Economics at Jaffery High School Arusha both for Cambridge IGCSE and Cambridge A levels. I encourage learning by using a number of different manipulative, hands –on activities and various forms of technology. By incorporating class discussions, open ended questions and cooperative learning, I am able to facilitate a highly interactive and inquisitive class atmosphere. In addition I utilize weekly quizzes, homework assignments and monthly tests to track student progress locate areas of weakness and prepare students for final examinations. My philosophy as a teacher lies in the fact that learners have individual differences, which must be catered for in order to achieve maximum effective learning. I achieve the same by creating interesting learning experiences as well as attending to each learner’s individual needs by using differentiated instruction. Extra curricula activities play an important role in the learning process and as such I actively participate in their appraisal.
