But as I have said, because we(Anglos Saxons, Celts) are being out-bred we will have your republic one day...and it'll make Inner Mongolia a jolly gay place to live.

Nowt against inner mongolia (love the food and the grasslands), but I don't think it will come to that for now.

You are forgetting the romans also, but then prince philip is not even british, if there is such a thing anymore

If the UK was a republic, it wouldn't much matter. Look at China and Russia, they have many different nationalities in one country. We would all simply be federal subjects, and none of this getting hotheaded nonsense about dancing around a maypole and speaking gaelic, or demanding independence based on some past wars. China have done a pretty good job at keeping their country unified, despite the ethnic tensions in the west.

In China certainly they try and wipe out any language apart from Mandarin- maybe a rebublican uk would copy the heavy-handed Chinese in getting shot of Welsh et ceteras? I ask you to rethink your position and all it could lead to. I personally like Morris Dancing and even the maypole. Maybe a future mosque will occupy that maypole site. The Royal Family bring in more money than they cost us, that's the truth of the matter. Why kill the goose!? But as I have said, because we(Anglos Saxons, Celts) are being out-bred we will have your republic one day...and it'll make Inner Mongolia a jolly gay place to live.

It is quite common when abroad for people to assume that everyone from the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland is English as the bulk of the population live in England. Those born in Ireland, Scotland or Wales, or consider themselves Irish, Scottish or Welsh can take offence at being called 'English'. This is possibly what the poster was referring to in the short post.

Well, give it another 20 years and nobody will feel offended anyway. The average person(the majority) in the British Isles will simply no longer be a celt or anglosaxon. being British will be what a bit of paper says and that's all.

It's not the 'English', it's the British. There is no 'the English'.
