Why should I learn English?

English is a worldwide language and even a basic level of fluency in this language will get you through all sorts of situations in most countries around the world. It is also an important language in the business world. If you plan to move outside of your own town or city for work, learning English as a second language will give you a much better chance of success. It will mean that you can read books, magazines and newspapers that written in the language, you can speak confidently with people who speak the language and you will open up a world of possibilities for yourself.

How can I learn English?

There are many ways to learn a new language. You can learn at home by studying DVDs and audio recordings. You can also attend classes near your home during the day time or in the evenings. You can even work with a private tutor at their home or your home. However, the very best way to learn a new language is to learn in a country where you will be surrounded by native speakers of the language. Learning the English language in a country where English is the first language is the quickest and most effective way to learn. When you are living and learning in an English speaking country you will be learning during every waking hour. You will even be learning when you don't realise you are. Every time you go into a shop, you will speak English. Most of the people you meet will speak English. Immersing yourself in the English language by learning in an environment where English is spoken all the time certainly makes the job of learning the language much easier and more enjoyable.

Where can I learn English?

It is possible to learn English in any country where English is spoken as a first language. English language learning schools are in many English speaking cities around the world – including the USA, Britain, Australia and New Zealand – so it's really up to you. Learning English in a large country like the United States is very different to learning in a small country such as New Zealand. Your choice will depend on whether you prefer to live in a large city or a smaller city and what kinds of leisure activities are available. You may also make your decision on aspects such as course cost, distance from home, facilities, accommodation and everyday living costs.

Wherever you decide to learn English, you will be in good company. Many people from countries all around the world move to English speaking countries to learn. They love the experience and you will too.
