English is one of the most spoken languages in the world and is widely used in the fields of aviation, diplomacy and science. Learning any language takes motivation and practice, but there are several ways to supplement your studies and learn English faster.

Watch Media
One of the best ways to learn any language is to listen to native speakers carrying on conversations. This can be difficult for certain languages, but English media is extremely prevalent--many popular movies and TV shows are spoken in English. When you watch any English media, don't use dubbed versions; use the full English version, or English with subtitles. If you can, watch English speaking news stations, such as CNN or the BBC to learn proper English. News reporters generally speak clearly and use English that is easy to understand, which will promote proper pronunciation and a good accent. Avoid listening to English speakers with strong regional dialects, such as those in the American south or in Ireland. Even fluent English speakers have difficulty understanding strong accents.

Learn Online
A large portion of the websites on the Internet are in English. Surfing websites written in English will improve your reading and comprehension skills. Sites with message boards or chat rooms can be especially useful for conversational English, because they allow you to talk to others using written rather than spoken English. It is common for a person learning English to have decent speaking skills but poor writing skill and reading comprehension. The web is also a good place to view social media and conversational English; video sites like YouTube are full videos of English speakers using the language and can be accessed at any time. You can also use websites to practice vocabulary.

Make Friends
Perhaps the best way to learn English is to become friends with a native English speaker and use English whenever you hang out with them. This will allow you to use the language in a real social situation, and receive friendly help and answers to questions if you have them. The purpose of your friendship should not solely be English learning, however, because this can make interactions seem forced or awkward. If the friend is interested in learning your language, you can reciprocate by spending some of your time together talking in your native tongue. If you do not know any native English speakers, speaking English with other friends that are interested in learning the language can be beneficial.
