I Hate My Job! Deciding if the Time is Right for You to Quit
By:Sandy Curtis

If you've been finding yourself saying "I hate my job!" more often, perhaps it is time to re-evaluate your life and consider whether or not you should stay at a job you hate. Before quitting a job there are many things that you need to consider to make sure that you and your loved ones have enough money to live on and enough financial stability. Here are some tips on how to decide if the time is right to quit and the steps you should take before you do so you can stop saying "I hate my job" and start saying "I love what I do!"

There are many reasons that people hate their jobs - their boss is an idiot, they hate what they do, they hate having to go to work at 8:00 AM, they hate not being able to take vacations when they want, the work load is too high, etc. Try to decide just what it is that you hate about your job. Make a list of what you don't like and then look at it to see if there is anything that you have the power to change. Chances are you don't but until you look you never know. If you do find something that you can change to make your job more bearable you may want to consider doing it rather than quitting. Of course, if you truly hate your job and can't change anything then this may not be an option.

Next, you need to look at how negatively your job is affecting your life. A job takes up so much of your time that if you are doing something you hate it can consume you. Do you think about work and how much you hate it during your time off? Is your job affecting your health or your relationships with your friends and family? Is it making you hate your life? If you find that your job is making it so you can't be happy in other parts of your life then you may want to consider quitting and looking for something new that you will enjoy.

Before you quit a job it is very important to have a good idea of your true financial situation and to have a plan in place for how you are going to make money after you quit. If you don't do this and just quit in a huff you may find yourself in serious trouble down the road if you are unable to find another job or don't have enough money to live on.

Start by writing out a monthly budget to figure out how much money you need to make to survive. Make sure to note any money that you have in savings that you may be able to use to supplement your income. Also decide if you would be willing to take on temp jobs if you quit without having another job lined up and couldn't find a job quickly enough to replace it.

You can start looking for a new job while you are at your current job, so you may want to do this. It is much better to have a source of income lined up before you quit your job instead of hoping it will work out and winding up broke and homeless several months down the road.

You may also want to consider finding work online. Many people run successful businesses from home on their computers and it is a viable way to make money and become your own boss.
