Working as a teacher is fun, interesting, and worthwhile. Individuals who wish to work as educators in the kindergarten through 12th grade school system will need to attend a teachers college.

Many colleges and universities offer degree programs for aspiring educators. One of the very first things you should consider when deciding which teachers college you will attend is what state(s) you plan to work in. Most states have very specific credentialing guidelines, so the college or university you pick should meet those guidelines. Ideally, you should try to attend a program in the state where you plan to teach.

A teachers college will help you prepare for your new profession in a variety of ways. You will learn the basics of the grade(s) you are planning on teaching, and will review material in many different academic subjects. You will also be familiarized with the academic requirements of the state in which you are going to teach.
