Cheating
By:Gary
In Response To: OH NO - NOT MY CLASS! (Rosalind)

I have taught big (50-80 Ss)oral/ aural English classes in China. I taught each class only once a week - approximately 800 different Ss each week! While I was not required to assess them, this would have been impossible, they were assessed by the Chinese English teachers (with my assistance). The problem of cheating was all but solved by the assessment being performed by the Ss 'home group' Chinese English teachers (they knew many Ss personally), and by the use of photo ID's. The latter being used by all members of the school anyway.
The photo ID's are the way to go I reckon.
Cheers
Gary
