I wondered if you'd expressed your concerns to your students - not coming from making them wrong but from your obvious deep commitment for them to get something for themselves and their lives. It is clear that you want to make a difference and although you may not touch all of your students with words that come from your heart, you may make a difference to someone. Even one can have a ripple effect.

Although I understand how you might have come to feeling resigned and cynical I don't think those ways of being have ever made a difference to anything or anyone. It must be hard work to hold those feelings and also be effective most of the time.

It takes something to allow oneself to be vulnerable rather than strong and right about everything.

Give it a try if you haven't already. To touch one person is a huge reward.
