Hello!

I've spent almost all of my ESL "life" teaching Spanish-speakers (primarily from Mexico) and will now be working with those whose home language is Korean. What are typical "things to watch for" from learners with this background that might be different from what I'm used to seeing with Spanish-speakers? What teaching tips could you offer for Korean learners?

An additional "practical" question: In the upper midwest, it's pretty common for Spanish speakers to NOT be able to read and write in Spanish (and their parents may well not be able to as well). Is this a common trait for midwestern-settling Koreans, or are children more likely to read and write in their native language? I know there are many assumptions about Asians and I don't want to inadvertently fall into "wrong stereotypes."
