Helping a Student Learn English

Dear Burcin,

Here are some strategies to use when working with this student:

Remember to use visuals as a way to reinforce the material you are helping her to learn. Also, since she will be working in a company, find out as much as you can about her company, and then base your help around vocabulary/situations that she will be encountering at the company. Remember to take it slow and easy, and always check for comprehension/understanding through using "Why" or "How" questions as these require a person to either analyze or apply specific information. In teaching grammar, the best way I found is to have the student write about a real life situation or event.
Let us know how things are progressing as you work with this student.
