I agree that it is important to use content from his interests and hobbies. You might want to consider using visuals, and then having him give you vocabulary from these visuals, or having him write a short story. Remember that with all ESL Teaching, you must include Listening, Speaking, Reading and Writing Activities in each lesson, as well as activities using Auditory, Visual and Kinestethic Learning Modalities.
