Something else to consider doing is to bring in to class odds and ends of things you find that might be suitable for different students to read. Maybe advertisements, brochures, short eay-to-read articles from newspapers and magazines. Often I find something I think will be interesting for a particular student to read, and have activites surrounding that.

An activity that has been fun was to have a 15 minute session toward the end of the class in which one student will read out loud to the class something short I have found and broguht in. (I pick it out with that person in mind.) Follow that with maybe 10 minutes of discussion about it. In that way, you can tailor the reading to the specific level of ability and interest of the student. Make sure, though, you have two or three extras in case that student doesn't show up for class that day!
