Dear New2Teaching,
In order to help your students develop their comprehension skills for the GRE Exam, I would recommend that you have them read different articles from the Newspaper (American Newspapers) and then write a short summary of the article for you. In their Summary, they would need to include the Who, What, Where, When, Why and How answers as it relates to the article. This would definitely help them improve their comprehension skills.
