Re Teaching English at a Kindergarten
In Response To: Teaching English at a Kindergarten (Josie)

Hi Josie,
Gees, I'm a teacher at a kindergarten near Hangzhou, well, I teach at 7 different kindergartens. I was pretty much the same as you when I started out.
Good of you to post online, I notice you're not the only one.
I can walk into any school now and when approached by the worst kids I turn on experience and they're like putty in my hands.

What comes first is your attitude. I mean, as a person. This will determine your teaching style. People say I'm 'kind', it's a positive I use to my advantage - because it's how I am I have no issues exploiting good motives.
I'm a scorpio, so I'm a bit of a perfectionist, this helps with discipline, gaining and maintaining control. Know who you are. Read about your starsign ( I'm not joking ) , even if you don't believe it, it can yield surprising results.

Know your weaknesses and strengths and apply them.

That's just the cherry on the top.

To get to the fundamentals, you need to focus yourself and imagine yourself in class before the class begins.
If you struggle with your 'vision', that's normal. Use the teaching content / words or phrases to be taught and apply them to your imagination.

There are solutions you can find online, but they're short lived and last , well, for the duration for one lesson, then you've got to find the next solution. I know.

Mmmmmmmmm, I'm in Shanghai for 5 days actually, from October 1 to October 5.

Why do I want to help you? Because we are the future.

Best thing you can do is contact me and we can meet. I have a Chinese girlfriend in Shanghai, she'll understand.

My email is jaredhosford@yahoo.com

I was taught how to teach initially at the sunshine school in harbin, good teaching school.
I later taught in Guangzhou, a Chinese teacher there taught me how to apply myself in kindergarten.
I'd be glad to share with you what I learned.

'students just run around.
What should I do!? ' lol
get in touch ;)
