Marian,
Welcome to the world of teaching ESL to children.
Here are some suggestions:

With young children, the primary goal for teaching is to teach them vocabulary. I would suggest that you use lots of pictures, and present vocabulary words that they will be using on an everyday basis, i.e.pictures/labels for everything found in the classroom.
Children, especially yound children needs lots of visuals.
Also, I would recommend using music- specifically, songs by Greg and Steve. These records made by Greg and Steve have been around for years, and incorporate such things as numbers, shapes, colors, the alphabet, body movements, days of the week and months of the year with musical accompaniment.
