I am a writer myself, and it very often happens that I have to write texts for books and articles in one of the several second/foreign languages that I know (English, German, French, and Chinese). There are two kinds of main factors involved:

- the linguistic skills in writing a readable text in a foreign/second language,
- extra-linguistic factors like the flow of thought and developing the topic in a written piece of work.

With the latter, even native speakers of a language may have problems, not necessarily with the linguistic skills (although they may also exist in a different form even for a native speaker.

I would suggest that you keep these two things in mind and differentiate accordingly. This will lead you to a correct analysis of the various factors that might cause you to have problems with your written skills in a foreign language.

It takes a long time to develop such skills especially in a foreign language. Practically, I would therefore suggest that you approach it from a perspective of "learning by doing". It means trying to find a kind person taking the time to go through your written work any time you have to write and submit a text, and to learn from the errors you may have made.

Good writing skills can only come from constant practice as much as to become a good football player in a team can onlay come by constant training.

Good luck!
