Help, please! I have a beginning ESL student who cannot recognize or accurately state the numbers 3-5 (he now knows 1 and 2). Although he can recite them, he cannot remember what they look like. How long should I be presenting each number? Shall I present each number for a longer period of time (perhaps only one number every 2 weeks) or put off this skill until he has some more experience under his belt? He is 7, in first grade, no previous schooling and arrived in the U.S. approx. 8-12 mos. ago. Please advise. Thanks!
