Melissa,
I encourage you to make learning fun. Since these are students who are studying to be chefs, teach them vocabulary that includes cooking and recipe terms. Use lots of visuals, and have students learn using cooperative learning activities. Example- using the picture cards, play concentration, or tic tac toe.
