China University of Petroleum-Beijing at Karamay is a new extension of China University of Petroleum-Beijing. The construction of the Karamay campus started in 2010 and the first cohort of students will be coming to the campus in September 2016.

Karamay Campus is located in Karamay City, which is close to the following capitals: Bishkek of Kyrgyzstan, Dushanbe of Tajikstan, Islamabad of Pakistan, Kabul of Afghanistan, Ashgabat of Turkmenistan, Tashkent of Uzbekistan, Astana of Kazakhstan, Kathmandu of Nepal, and Ulaanbaatar of Mongolia.

Karamay is the most important oil and IT city in China and it is a young and culturally-diversified city, with a population of 400,000. Karamay is also a tourist attraction and the Demon Castlenear Karamay, the typical Yardang landform, is among the top 50 most interesting tourist attractions in China.

Karamay Campus is installed with art-of-state facilities for teaching and research. It also offers very good sports facilities and comfortable accommodation for students. The mission of the campus is to develop the university campus into a technical school of world class to educate high-quality engineers and professionals. It emphasizes applied knowledge, internationalization and best quality in order to produce professionals with international horizon and strong practical competence.

According to its mid-term development plan, international students at the campus will grow to 10% of the total student body and international faculty will be up to 30% of the total faculty members. Starting in September 2016, China University of Petroleum-Beijing at Karamay will offer quality programs:
