I started Western Language Center in January, 2002. English is becoming more and more important for all Chinese: from businessmen to artists, scientists to shopkeepers. Too many Chinese people study English for 10 years but still cannot hold a conversation. I wanted to create a completely different learning environment to that found in traditional Chinese schools. I decided to create a school where people can learn to use the language, not just study it.

I am really proud of what we have achieved so far in this short time. We are a great team here and together we have built a strong foundation. Our reputation is growing and growing: 65% of new students are referred to us by word of mouth. We have taught English to over 1,000 students from aged 3 to those well past retirement. We have also given free lessons to over 10,000 students in Xi'an, allowing them to experience learning English with a native speaker: the Western Language Center way.
