ILTC Profile:
Established in 1979, the Intensive Language Training Center(ILTC) is under the auspices of the State Ministry of Education and Sichuan University (SCU). The Center is mainly engaged in training state-sponsored candidates who are going abroad as well as teachers of Sichuan University. In addition, the Center also enrolls students sent by industry along with self-financed individuals.

Four Language training programs:English, Japanese,German, Russian and French,are available in our Center. Different courses are offered to suit the various language levels of our students. The faculty consisits of thirty three full-time Chinese teachers and eighteen foreign teachers and experts recruited on an annual basis.

Our teaching programs have earned an excellent reputation: Test-Taking Program prepares the state-sponsored candidates for the national examinations;Offical Training Program trains the high-level personnel of the local government; IELTS, GRE and TOEFL Programs pave the way for those who wish to study abroad. Four-skill Program caters for the studends at different levels of English ability; Sino-American Cultural Exchange Program provides the best learning environment for the improvement of listening and speaking skills. Our Japanese, German, Russian and French teaching programs are well-known across the country.

The Center is housed in a well-maintained six-storey building, in which there are not only well-furnished classrooms but aslo modern language labs. The audiovisual office of the Center supplies modern facilities to meet the demands of teaching and foreign language testing. Also established in our Center are "The International Education Infomation Center" and "The Foreign Languages Testing Center". All major tests of foreign languages such as GMAT, GRE, TOEFL, WSK, BEC, IELTS, JPT and PETS are held here.

The main research of the Center focuses on intensive language training. Our teachers have compiled a number of textbooks and published more than 100 research articles.

The Center is well known for its first rate teaching quality and professional management. Since 1979,the Center has trained more than 30,000 students sent by the State Ministry of Education and those sent by industry. Our students are scattered all over the world;they are playing an important role in their respective fields by using foreign languages effectively.

In accordance with the requirements of the State Ministry of Education, the Center will continue to be one of the major bases in this country for carrying out foreign language training and sparing no efforts to serve the policy of "opening to the outside world".

Sichuan University:
A key comprehensive university under the administration of the State Ministry of Education, Sichuan University is integrated from three national key universities, namely, the former Sichuan University,Chengdu University of Science and Technology(CUST), and West China University of Medical Sciences(WCUMS). With a history of 100-odd years, Sichuan University is now one of the largest universities with the most extensive disciplines in China.

The university has a current total of 12,000 faculties and staff, including over 900 professors, 5 academicians of the Academy of Sciences of China and the Academy of Engineering of China, 10 members of the State Council Academic Degree Committee and Specialized Degree Assessment Committee, and 328 Ph.D.tutors.Its student population reaches 42,000 with over 5000 postgraduate students.
