Yew Chung provides a bilingual "through-train" education in a multicultural environment from early childhood education through primary and secondary education culminating in the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme (IB).

EARLY CHILDHOOD
Early childhood is a special time for parents and children. Their first educational experience outside of their home environment must be positive, enriching and stimulating.

* At Yew Chung we want every child to experience the joy and delight of learning. Our environment is designed to be visually stimulating. The kindergarten focuses on nurturing the holistic development of children with an emphasis on intellectual and sensory enrichment.

* Children are encouraged to interact with each other and participate in their own learning. Being an active and independent learner is a skill that carries on thoughout life.

PRIMARY SCHOOL
Yew Chung primary education nurtures student's creativity, competence, exploration, acquisition and problem-solving capability. We provide a bilingual and cross-cultural international curriculum.

The formal curriculum is based on the UK National Curriculum that meets international standards. Through this modified curriculum, students develop the capacity of being bilingual and multi-cultural. This attribute plays a key role in setting a solid foundation for further education. Part of the curriculum is conducted according to the normal subject classification where integrated learning is the major methodology.

The core curriculum is thematically designed with a fusion of various subjects. Students are trained to learn actively, think independently, collect, integrate and analyze data. Learning through practical situations empowers them to interweave textbook knowledge and real life experiences as well as to link up individual exploration and build up a sense of team work so as to integrate their creativity, thinking and problem-solving skills. Students are encouraged to make use of the library and computers in order to discover the most current information in their subjects.

All entering students to our primary schools are subject to placement tests to measure verbal and non-verbal abilities and maintain consistent academic standards. Students will be tested in English, Mathematics and Chinese.

SECONDARY SCHOOL
Yew Chung International School - Secondary which is now under Private Independent School Scheme provides a bilingual education in English and Chinese for Years 7 - 13 students pursuing an international education leading to the International General Certificate of Secondary Education (IGCSE) and the International Baccalaureate (IB) programmes.
