KIA is a part of the OASIS International Schools, the East Asia Regional Council of Overseas Schools (EARCOS) and the Association of China and Mongolia International Schools (ACAMIS).

Our history
Founded in 1994, KIA is located in Kunming, which is the capital of Yunnan Province in southwest China. Since our beginning with only a few families, KIA has seen its enrollment grow from 14 to now over 200 students from more than 20 nations. KIA provides instruction for students from junior kindergarten through the twelfth grade. Our American style curriculum is designed to serve English speaking expatriate students. The Academy strives to maintain the best education environment possible with the resources at our disposal

Since February 2006, KIA is accredited by the Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC). The WASC is one of six regional associations that accredit public and private schools, colleges, and universities in the United States and throughout Asia.

Our Mission
The purpose of Kunming International Academy, as a private and non-profit institution, is to provide a quality education for the children of the Kunming international community within the framework of a Christian worldview. This education is designed to help develop mature and healthy young adults to achieve their full potential as world citizens.
