The French International School of Hong Kong, which was given the name of "Victor Segalen" in 1994, is a private school governed locally, created and managed by the Parents Association (French International School Association Limited) and linked by convention to the Agency for French Teaching Abroad, a national administrative body. The school is placed directly under the direction of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Cooperation Ministry.
Founded as a "small French school" in 1964 for a handful of children, it enrolled its 1000th pupil in January 1994 and today has almost 1400 students.
The present school of Jardine Lookout was built in 1984, and the one of Blue Pool Road in 1999 on a plot of land given by the Hong Kong Government on condition that the school opened an English Section (also know as the International Section). Today the percentage of the international section is 34%. The secondary school has been located in the new building since January 1999.
