A Brief Introduction of China's History
By:BoBo Wang

China is one of four ancient civilizations. And Chinese civilization, also known as the Chinese civilization, is the world's oldest civilizations and one of the world's longest continuous civilizations. Chinese civilization has a long history. Counting from the Yellow Emperor, there has been more than 5,000 years. Some people consider that China has 300,000 years of roots, 10,000 years of civilized history and 5,000 years of country history.

It’s acknowledged that China is one of the oldest civilized countries in the world. Generally speaking, Chinese civilization owns two direct sources, one being the Yellow River Civilization and the other the Yangtze River Civilization. These two civilizations compose great Chinese civilization, and Chinese civilization is the fruits of the two regional cultural exchanges, integration and sublimation.

Some scholars of history point out the definition of history period which need to be counted from the creation of characters in any forms, and the time before this period is called the prehistoric era. In Chinese history, according to the legends, Fuxi created Eight Trigram and Cangjie invent characters during Yellow Emperor period. Modern archaeology has discovered oracle bone inscriptions of the 3350 years ago (before 1350) of the Shang Dynasty, pottery inscriptions of 4000 to 5000 years ago, and the marks of word characteristics carved on turtle bones about 5000 to 7000 years ago.

Now we measure Chinese history from the politics and social patterns. About 6000 years ago in the early age of Yangshao Culture (Painted Pottery Culture), the central region had transited from a matrilineal clan society to a paternal clan society. Meanwhile, the equality in primitive society was broken. According to the records, hereditary system was started from Xia Dynasty about 2000 years ago, and in Zhou Dynasty, a complete feudal social system had been established. Qin Dynasty in 221BC unified the country and founded the centralization politics. During the period from Han Dynasty till Qing Dynasty, the country was main run by civil governors. Revolution of 1911 led by Sun Yat-sen overthrew the Qing Dynasty 200 years of rule and also terminated the feudal monarchy lasting over 2000 years. Republic of China was established which is one of the greatest events of Chinese history. After the anti-fascist war and the civil war, the People’s Republic of China was founded in October 1st, 1949.

As many Chinese tourist attractions are related to the history, a brief summary of China’ history would be helpful for tourists to better understand to connotations of the attractions. When you are planning where to spend your China vacation, some large cities with deep historical connotations are your first choice. A visit to Beijing and a trip to Xian are both good China touring plans http://www.chinatours.com/china-tour-planner/index.html.
