Looking fo info about Wenzhou I can help you out as i have been there many times. Wenzhou is a middle sized city with 5 or 6 million in total. pretty big by western standards. It has many western stores including fast food places. I found it a dirtier than Ningbo and not as nice but it is still an amazing city to explore. KTV is huge just like anywhere else in China and the foreing population is much smaller than say Ningbo. Wnezhou is like cut off from the rest of China by mountains and rugged terrrain. The local language is really different from anywhere else in Zhejiang province and sounds almost like Japanese. Wenzhou is somewhat modern. It's downtown core consists of skyscrapers and modern buildings but there is still that feel of an older China just around the corner. There is lots to see in Wenzhou and in the surrounding area. Yan dang shan is a must! I haven't seen any western grocery stores this is probably because the foreign population is lower than cities like Ningbo or Hangzhou. Wenzhou people are famous for their instinctive business skills and the city boasts many shoe factories.

If you think you might have a problem surviving with out good western foods and the company of a few foreing friends then I suggest you go to Ningbo. NIngbo is really great.
