They do NOT want US English
By:Paul in Hebei
In Response To: Z Visa and Private Training Centers/Schools (Bud Braun)

Hey Bud

Who are you trying to kid? I asked my students whether they preferred UK English or US English. Out of 350 students 5 said US, 15 said don't mind, and the rest said UK English. Why? For a start they can never understand US movies, and often I and my Canadian colleague can't either, but they have a sporting chance with UK and Australian movies. (The most important reason has nothing to do with language but it's just as real, he's called George W Bush.)

The reality is that US 'English' has become a dialect - it does not follow grammar rules, it misuses words and pronunciation is changing so fast and has so many extreme variants that Chinese English and Indian English are easier to understand.

Give over, mate. Ask around again!
