How To Get To Melbourne's Beaches
By:Mairead Foley

Middle Park Beach and Albert Park Beach are located side by side and are wonderful, safe and beaches. Both have lovely little cafés and restaurants along the promenade. With a lovely clean sandy beach that stretches out and hugs the coast you'll find plenty of space to sunbathe and relax.

There's a pathway that runs in front of the promenade that's used by many walkers, cyclists, joggers and rollerbladersrs. The Middle Park Life Saving Club and the Life Saving Association of Victoria are based here. At the club you can avail of showers, changing facilities, toilets and a kiosk.

How to get here:

Middle Park Beach and Albert Park Beach are located approximately 3.7km (just a 9-minute drive) from Melbourne.

Head west on Leopold Street towards Saint Kilda’s Road. Take a right onto Queen’s Road and follow with a slight left at King’s Way. Turn left onto Albert Road and again take a slight left at Kerferd Road, driving through the first roundabout. Turn right onto Beaconsfield Parade - Albert Park Beach is located on your right hand side and Middle Park Beach just below it.

Saint Kilda’s Beach

Saint Kilda’s Beach is an extremely popular beach and is located just a short distance from Melbourne city. Today it's quite an exclusive area of Melbourne. In previous years this was not the case, however with growing developments and real estate in the area it has made Saint Kilda’s what it is today, a clean, modern and safe sandy beach.

With its close proximity to the city centre of Melbourne and the warm Australian climate, Saint Kilda’s Beach draws crowds from near and far who appreciate good scenery, entertainment, restaurants, cafés and much more in a clean and safe environment. Saint Kilda is also home to The Royal Melbourne Yacht Squadron.

Located just south of Saint Kilda’s pier is Luna Park, an historic fun park that guarantees an adventurous and fun day out for all the family.

How to get here:

Saint Kilda’s Beach is located just 3.3 km from Melbourne city centre and is just a 7 minute drive.

Head south on Saint Kilda’s Road towards Louise Street, then turn right onto Fitzroy Street and continue onto Jacka Boulevard.

Elwood Beach
Elwood Beach is another Melbourne gem. It's a very popular beach for families due to the abundance of activities and facilities available here. Elwood has a great barbeque area, playgrounds, tennis court, lawns, an angling club, boating club, safe swimming area, lifesaving club, and an area dedicated to water skiers.

How to get here:

Elwood Beach is located 7.5 km from Melbourne city centre and just a 15 min drive.

Head south onto Saint Kilda’s Road in the direction of Louise Street, turn right at Fitzroy Street and continue onto Jacka Boulevard. Continue onwards onto Marine Parade and then onto Ormond Esplanade. Turn right onto Saint Kilda’s Street, and right again onto Martin Street where the stunning Elwood Beach awaits you.

Melbourne is a wonderful holiday destination and has much to offer with its vibrant city and surrounding areas and its many beaches only waiting to be explored. What better way to explore and enjoy Melbourne’s beaches than with the freedom and independence of a car rental.
